Finance and Administration Officer – Nairobi – Forum for International Cooperation

One Year Contract
The program “Decent Work and Labour Rights in East Africa ”, supported by the Danish organization Forum for International Cooperation (FIC) is to be implemented by partner youth organizations and trade unions in Kenya and Tanzania in the period 2017 -2020.

The specific program objectives are:
The strengthened capacity of partner trade unions in Kenya and Tanzania to advocate for and create awareness about workers’ rights and respect of labour market legislation contribute to improved working conditions.
The strengthened capacity of partner youth organisations in Kenya and Tanzania to create awareness and to advocate for increased and improved job opportunities for youth has contributed to better conditions for establishing sustainable businesses and increased success in their job seeking.
The program is a continuation of previous projects in Kenya and Tanzania working on capacity building of trade unions and advocacy on members’ rights and youth organizations working on youth access to decent jobs.
There are two local coordinators employed by FIC, based in Nairobi. One coordinator is responsible for the first objective, and thus be the main contact person for the trade unions, while the second coordinator is responsible for the second objective, and thus be the main contact person for the youth organizations.
There will be the position of Finance Administrator.
The administrator will work at the office in Nairobi and support the youth organizations and the trade unions in Kenya as well as in Tanzania. Below are the key tasks and the specific responsibilities of the administrator:
Make sure that the quarterly financial reports and budget requests are received on time by the cluster coordinators.
Capacity building of partners on financial management
Consult with FIC finance department on the quarterly financial reports and budget requests and provide feedback to the cluster coordinators accordingly.
Compile the income reports from the partners; submit timely budgets and financial reports to FIC Denmark on a quarterly basis.
Ensure that funds are transferred to the sub-components on a quarterly basis (based on approved financial reports and budget requests).
Ensure that an annual financial program report is carried out at the end of each year.
Ensure that a revised annual budget is carried out for the program at the beginning of each year.
Ensure that the economy of FIC Kenya is in balance and elaborate financial reports and statements for FIC Kenya
Do time registration of FIC Kenya end report to FIC, Denmark
Prepare the books for yearly audit for FIC Kenya

Cash management
Submit the FIC Kenya returns to the government
Submit statutory deductions for FIC Kenya staff
The following qualifications and skills are required for the posts:
Adequate educational background: bachelor in financial accounting/financial management
Proven experience from accounting in similar project or program
Proven skills in using Microsoft Navision
Experience in general administration
Technical and personal skills and qualifications required from the accountant:
Able to maintain the overview of many different activities
Effective in communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills
Some experience in coaching or facilitation in financial management
Effective in planning and keeping to deadlines
Start date for the Job is 01st August 2017.
