Purpose Statement: Carry out civil engineering work in a manner which ensures that both professional and SHE standards are met and maintenance costs kept to a minimum.

Principal Accountabilities:
Plan and allocate work to staff
Undertake major maintenance, modifications and upgrades of civil works and provide leadership to the Works Teams
Supervise the work of contractors and their staff
Requisition materials from the stores and issue to maintenance teams
Continually assess the competence of the maintenance team and offer the necessary coaching support to team members
Ensure compliance with technical and SHE standards together with general regulations and procedures.
Lead, guide and train others so that all civil engineering work is done in the most effective way in terms of cost, timescale, SHE and technical viability
Plan and prepare for civil engineering work so that such work can be carried out in the most timely and effective way
May be required to prepare engineering drawings for planned work, from time to time
Stay abreast of technical developments and trends in the field of civil engineering

Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
HND in civil engineering
Proven experience in township and road maintenance
Involvement in minor civil related projects
At least three years’ experience in a similar role
Good communication, interpersonal, leadership and planning skills
