Investment Manager – Economic Development – Somalia Stability Fund

About the Somalia Stability Fund:
The Somalia Stability Fund (SSF) is a multi-donor fund working towards a peaceful, secure, and stable Somalia. It offers Somali stakeholders a source of multi-year funding that can respond to local needs and opportunities. SSF enhances stability through a flexible and adaptive mechanism that aims to contribute to the following outcomes:

Stabilisation: Strengthened social cohesion and community-government relationship in newly recovered areas

State-building: Better functioning, more accountable and responsive government institutions

State-Building: Increased participation and representation of women and excluded groups in governance structures; and

Conflict Prevention and Management: Communities’ vulnerability to conflict has been reduced

What we are looking for:

SSF’s investment portfolio requires a dynamic team of Investment Managers to manage the Fund’s portfolio of investments, ensuring smart operations systems are employed to capture and analyse risks and results, the adoption of lessons learnt, and through the continuous refinement of the investment design. An Investment Manager typically manages several investments across Somalia, maximizing individual investment returns at an acceptable level of risk.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum three to five years’ experience in designing and managing development projects (both grants and contracts).
Masters in economics, business management or business administration
Prior experience working on economic development initiatives (especially related to skills development, vocational training, private sector development)
Excellent English language writing skills
Ability to carry out project finance responsibilities (maintaining grant records, ensuring payments, monitoring accounting, reviewing payments, financial auditing, preparing financial reports etc.)
Ability to monitor and forecast financial disbursements
Ability to prepare monthly and quarterly financial and narrative reports on the performance of investments required
Experience in risk management and mitigation
Good understanding of DFID’s Value for Money framework
Local knowledge of the Somali context is highly desirable
