IMA in Kenya is looking to recruit a Maternal New born and Child Health, Family Planning & Reproductive Health Technical Officer f o r the Afya Jijini Project.

Role Summary
The MNCH,FP Technical Officer , jointly with the MNCH,FP Advisor will be responsible for developing, leading and implementing a range of RMNCH strategies for the five-year, USAID-funded Afya Jijini project. The MNCH, FP Technical officer will provide technical support to the project activities to scale up quality Basic and Emergency obstetric and neonatal care (EmONC) in the county. At sub-county level s/he[MO1] will be responsible for setting up the RMNCH TWG, the MPDSR committee and relevant quality improvement structures at both Sub county and facility level including Work Improvement teams. Further s/he will support the scale up of family planning services in the sub-county and facility with a focus on availing choice at every supported facility. Working with the community engagement the Technical Officer will develop innovative community level models that support uptake of FP, early ANC attendance and retention to 4th ANC, and finally increased facility based deliveries, aggressive c-MNCH approaches in informal settlement with high perinatal deaths. The technical officer will represent Afya Jijini project in relevant sub county and facility technical meetings. The Technical officer will also work with the TB/HIV advisor to ensure RH/HIV integration in supported facilities including within the key population. Working closely with rest of technical team and the communication manager, s/he will support knowledge management in the technical area (success stories, routine case studies, high level case studies, newsletters, relevant posters and other needed publications).

Responsibilities
1. Technical leadership and management of Afya Jijini’s MNCH,FP activities being implemented in the facilities
2. Strengthen the sub-county MNCH,FP TWG and ensure regular meeting
3. Attend any sub-county level RH/FP technical fora’s to represent the program as needed
4. Support high volume maternities to offer quality EMONC/BMONC and FP services through on job training, mentorship and CMEs in his/her cluster
5. Prepare monthly and quarterly activity plans, budget plans and bi weekly reports as required
6. Strengthen/Establish the RH/FP QA/QI sub-committee that will be reporting to the sub- county QA/QI TWG and UNIT
7. Ensure that coaching to all WITs is happening with monthly reporting of QI projects
8. Establish/ Strengthen the sub-county and facility level MPDSR committee and ensure:-
9. All maternal deaths and near misses including cases of obstetrics fistulas, emergency hysterectomies due to PPH from labor complications etc. have been documented and audited within 24-48 hrs with an improvement plan
10. Working with the rest of the technical teams, ensure that all perinatal deaths are audited with an improvement plan
11. Establishing the facility based Work Improvement Teams (WITs) for maternity & MCH clinics across all the supported sites
12. Ensure timely reporting of all RH/FP biweekly reports
13. Coordinate with the sub county nurse to support facilities in forecasting of RH/FP commodities, ordering, and inventory management.
14. In collaboration with CHVs, Utilize the MPDSR data (including a rapid baseline survey) identify MPDSR hotspots within the informal settlements to aggressively implement c-MNCH with focus on reducing perinatal mortality in the said hotspots
15. In collaboration with the project communication manager and rest of technical teams develop relevant knowledge documents (reports, success stories, case studies and others as maybe required).
To succeed in this role you require:**
1. Nursing /medical qualification (Diploma or Degree)
2. At least 3-5 years’ experience in successful field implementation of RH/FP programs in Kenya
3. Demonstrated skills in designing and rolling out GoK-endorsed approaches that result in improved uptake of services for family planning, reproductive health and maternal health
4. Strong writing skills, including writing of reports
5. Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform; ability to manage several major multidimensional activities simultaneously.
6. Ability to travel extensively to supported sites.
7. Experience conducting training and capacity building related to data quality, data dissemination and information use (DDIU), and other M•Ability to recognize limitations and seek appropriate expert &E related issues for health facility staff, community projects and others.
8. Skills in conducting data quality audits and coaching for improved data performance.
9. Knowledge of different data collection approaches for facility- and community-based health project work.
10. Experience working on U.S. government (PEPFAR) or other large donor-funded projects preferred.
11. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, advanced Excel, and PowerPoint).
12. Knowledge and skills in online reporting platforms and/or statistical packages.
