Training Coordinator HIV/AIDS Service Delivery Support Activity – Initiatives Inc

Background: The HIV/AIDS Service Delivery Support Activity (HSDSA) is a five-year USAID- funded project led by PATH with consortium partners Initiatives Inc., Data Blink, AMREF, NOPE, ICL, KRCS and HFG. The program is implemented in five counties of Nyanza region: Homa Bay, Kisumu, Migori, Nyamira and Kisii. The Training Coordinator will be an Initiatives Inc. employee working as an integral member of the PATH-led project team.

Location: Kisumu, Kenya

Job Summary: The Training Coordinator contributes to the project’s achievements related to ensuring a skilled and high-performing workforce through the coordination and provision of service delivery and service management training. Working under the Health Systems Strengthening Advisor, s/he will coordinate with project service delivery experts, county and sub-county health managers and nationally recognized local training institutions to ensure staff are trained to provide essential HIV prevention, care and treatment services.

Responsibilities and Duties
Lead coordination and implementation of training for clinical and non-clinical service delivery staff and health service managers at county, sub-county, facility and community levels.
Ensure project workplan activities are carried out and that staff training targets are achieved.
Work with project technical leadership and S/CHMT staff to agree conduct training needs assessments and prioritize training topics and cadres.
Liaise with nationally recognized local training institutions to coordinate provision of key trainings.
Coordinate practical and innovative training approaches such as distance learning, on-the-job training, and preceptorship as well as traditional residential training programs.
Work with the Technical Advisor for Human Resources for Health and county and sub-county managers to ensure appropriate training selection and tracking through iHRIS systems.
Contribute to project workplanning, reporting and other project technical program administration and management activities as required

Desired Qualifications
Degree in clinical medicine or nursing, with prior experience in health education or training
Masters of Public Health or other related graduate or professional degree
A minimum of five years managing health provider and health manager training
Experience working with Kenyan health training institutions and management structures (CHMTs, SCHMTs and facilities)
Highly professional comportment and ability to provide high-quality technical assistance to regional, county, and sub-county leaders and represent the project among other government and donor stakeholders
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common software
Ability to travel 50% of the time
Professional fluency in English and Swahili
