Female Retail Finance Manager – Nairobi – Corporate Staffing Services

Our client is a well established international food retail chain with various stores. For the last six years, the company has been co-branding its locations purposing to increase its presence outside their HQ.

Last year, they opened a number of stores in Nairobi targeting a number of urban shopping areas as part of their initial roll out plan.

Job Purpose: To oversee and direct the financial operations of the business functions to ensure they meet the vision and financial goals based on the organization’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Take responsibility for overall management and delivery of the business plan.
Oversee the overall corporate budgeting preparation, management and monitoring processes.
Establish key financial strategies to enhance business profitability.
Perform financial analysis, reporting and management activities.
Preparation of Tax returns; statutory, VAT, withholding
Preparation of monthly balance sheet for the management accounts and reconciliation
Establish accurate forecasts regarding expenses and revenues and manage regular reporting requirements.
Preparation of monthly management accounts and provision of detailed analyses to aid business planning and decision making
Generate financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, etc.
Monitor and manage all expenses within the allotted budget
Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
Review financial data for accuracy, correctness and completeness.
Maintain oversight of expenses management, bank reconciliations, cash management and banking processes
Hire and train new employees on financial operations.
Ensure financial team follows company policies and regulations.
Develop standard accounting procedures to improve financial operations efficiency.
Participate in performance evaluation of finance staff and conduct counseling sessions to identify skill development needs.
Review annual budgets and recommend any changes if needed.
Perform account reconciliation activities.
Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of salaries and other benefits to employees

Skills and Requirements
Degree in Finance or business related course
CPA (K) or ACCA qualifications is a must
Must be 35 yrs and above
Significant experience in finance, experience in retail is an added advantage
Experience of managing professional staff and a department is a must
Should have good working knowledge of common accounting systems; experience with retails systems will be an advantage
Experience in interpreting and analyzing financial data is essential
High numeric abilities
Advanced computer skills consummate with tertiary education
Ability to read, interpret data and create reports and presentations as required.
Good organizational skills
