Expansion Director – Access Afya Kenya

The Organization: Access Afya is a private social enterprise that is making healthcare in Kenya better, cheaper, and easier to access.

We are creating a network of micro-clinics that provide consultations, client education, on-site diagnostics, and authentic medication.

We also run novel Doorstep Health programs that sell care directly to people in the field at community areas such as schools and churches.

We work within a fragmented healthcare system, where our target market is uninsured and often does not get care when they need it because their options are expensive, inconvenient, or unpleasant.

Our model brings a safe first access point directly into underserved communities, encouraging earlier and more frequent conversations about health.

Patients pay small fees, making each micro-clinic a self-sustaining operation.

Background: Access Afya was founded in 2012 and currently runs two clinics and one Healthy Schools program serving over 5,000 clients in Nairobi’s southern informal settlements.

The organization was designed for replication of our clinic and field based models, and we have spent years refining, testing, and growing our client base.

We are looking to bring on a growth oriented Expansion Director that will lead the process of bringing Access Afya to an eight clinic chain serving over 35,000 people by the end of 2016.

The Position

The Expansion Director will work closely with the management team, which includes our Medical, Talent, and Doorstep Health Directors and the CEO.

This individual must be excellent at process and project management.

We are recruiting a leader: someone who can inspire others to be a part of our enterprise’s early growth.

Areas of responsibility will include:
Market scouting and selection for new clinic sites.
Stakeholder management and engagement, including local leaders and government officials.
Project management for the complex, multi-faceted project of opening a new clinic.
Financial management and oversight of expansion budgets.

If you are excited at the potential of the private sector to solve tough problems, good at getting your message across to a range of audiences, an excellent listener, able to empathize with people, and consistently energetic this could be a great fit for you.

We want you to love our clinics, and want current and prospective clients to love them too.

You should embody the mission and vision of Access Afya when in the field.

Interested candidates will spend time with our team and our clients as part of the interview process.

Please send a statement of interest and CV to melissa@accessafya.com.
