Logistics Officer – Nairobi – University of Maryland

The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services. MGIC is seeking a suitably qualified persons able to fill the following position:

The logistics officer will handle the day to day logistics and procurement processes, assets and fleet management. Provide guidance on logistics and procurement matters and ensure adherence to the set regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities :
1.Manage the whole process of procurement including drafting request for quotations and proposals; participate in comparisons and evaluation of bids and follow up on approvals of -requisite documents and participate in pre-qualifications of vendors. 2.Ensure adherence to organization’s logistics and procurement regulations and guidance. 3.Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure correct vendor payments, follow through on financial procurement budgets and accuracy of financial procurement document presented. 4.Provide guidance to programs on procurement related matters and assist in developing suitable solutions. 5.Asset and Fleet management; Ensure effective and efficient management of organizational assets and maintain an up to date asset register. 6.Assist the Administration Officer with Stores and Inventory management.

Mininum qualifications and person specifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in a business related field. •Postgraduate diploma in purchasing and supplies. •3 years relevant experience. •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. •Negotiation skills. •Certified knowledge of donor rules and regulations on procurement and funds management. •Planning and organisational skills. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
