Research and Innovation Manager – Liberty Life Assurance Kenya Ltd

Job Summary: The Research and Innovation Manager will be responsible for providing primary marketing research services to business units for strategic decision making.

This role will provide guidance and direction to both primary and secondary research functions in respect of business
requirements.

The job holder will report to the General Manager – Actuarial.

Key Responsibilities
Gathering of market intelligence and data, analysing these and providing insights with a view to providing Liberty Life with a competitive advantage
Continuously liaise with the LLK fund managers to understand the economic trends both within and outside the country with a view of proposing suitable investment and monitoring the performance of the fund managers using appropriate benchmark provided by the LLK Board.
Creation of actionable insight that informs decision making on customer behaviour with and provide insights into the changes in operations to optimise the performance of business.
Responsible for project management and insight delivery relating to ad-hoc research projects (both quantitative and qualitative) and tracking studies.
Make recommendations to the Management Team on the prioritisation of the innovative ideas and advice on ways of improving innovation across the business in liaison with various internal committees.
Champion innovation through analysis of the current situations to foster improvements, better work systems, costs savings, faster processes and turnaround times.
Review existing research methods and advise on the best research methodology requirements and to address the business and research problem
Responsible for ensuring that objectives and action standards are set on all projects and that the research delivers according to the objectives
Advise on research results against the action standards set and next steps
Identifying problems, opportunities and/or gaps through primary research and innovation.
Management and dissemination of insight form secondary research sources such as market data, consumer/customer/competitor trends as well as internal company data.
Dissemination of insight across projects and categories within the business.
Develop ways of obtaining or capturing innovative ideas from the staff body, ensuring all ideas are recorded, classified, improved, evaluated and selected.
Manage external vendor/supplier relationships.

Experience, Skills and Academic Qualifications
Undergraduate Degree preferably with majors in statistics and/or industrial psychology and research methodology.
At least 3 -5 years research experience preferably experience as both a researcher and user of research.
Research methodologies knowledge for new product development, consumer and customer segmentation studies, brand blueprinting, brand tracking, advertising testing, pricing and usage and attitude studies, concept testing and conjoint analysis.
Broad understanding of financial services market.
Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
Good understanding of marketing and brand principles.
Excellent interpersonal skills & relationship building.
