Human Resources Generalist – Plastipak – Garland

Position Description
This leadership position has the responsibility for Associates, safety management, and training. The position has the authority for administering all phases of the human resources function including planning, coordinating, developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving processes and systems.

Responsibilities
Provides customer service (i.e., payroll/ benefits, general employment inquiries)
Assists with performance management, employee relations matters, and terminations
Creates proposals (i.e., wage & incentive survey), HR Metrics, and HR budget/ goals
Devises programs for operational improvement (i.e., recognition, morale, safety)
Conducts new hire orientation and other training/ educational sessions
Administers and facilitates defined policies, practices, and procedures
Co-facilitates accident/ legal investigations and prepares related documentation
Complies reports for the Regional/ Site Manager, and Corporate (HR/ Safety)
Makes recommendations to Management on employment policies and practices
Co-coordinates safety and risk management programs, and the Safety Committee
Performs recruiting & hiring functions (i.e., ads, events, interviews, selection, offers)
Verifies appropriate flow of applicants (i.e., HR interviews, information verification)
Serves as the HR representative during Company unemployment hearings
Co-coordinates site events (i.e., Corporate, Customer, and Associate)
Compiles legal and operational data (i.e., EEOC, funnel stats, communications)
Enters and maintains employee information in SAP, Kronos, and Associates files
Processes paperwork (i.e., New Hire, Status Change, LOA, Termination/ COBRA)
Maintains files (i.e., Associates, I-9, Safety, Orientation/ Training, ISO. 300 Log)
Processes payroll/ time records, completes related reports, and distributes paychecks
Tracks employment related information (i.e., attendance, PTO, evaluations)
Preserves security/ safety documents (i.e., confidentiality, cert of insurance, contract)
Ensures Associates have proper uniforms and badge access to the facility
Maintains ISO standards (i.e., forms, work instructions, procedures/ requirements)
Responsible for reporting food safety issues to personnel with authority to initiate action
Performs all other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or arts discipline plus solid work history
Excellent communication (verbal & written) and facilitation skills
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and training material
Solid analytical, planning and organization skills
