Board Member – Kakamega County – Nairobi

Duties and Responsibilities:
In line with the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Services Act, 2021, Board of Directors specific duties will entail:
Ensure proper and efficient exercise of the powers and performance of the functions of the Company;
Advise the management of the company generally on the exercise of the powers and the performance of the functions of the company;
Approve the estimates of the revenue and expenditure of the company;
Administer the assets, liabilities and funds of the company in such a manner and for such purposes as will promote the best interest of the company;
Receive on behalf of the company, gifts, donations, grants or other money and make legitimate disbursement therefrom;
Promote the general welfare of the staff of the company;
Have power to enter into association with other institutions dealing with water and sanitation matters,
institutions of higher learning and research organizations as the Board may consider desirable as
appropriate within or outside Kakamega County in furtherance of the purposes of which the Board is established;
Make rules and regulations for the proper and efficient management of the company;
Monitor and evaluate the state of water and sanitation systems in the company;
Liaise with the County department of water services in all matters relating to water and sewerage services; and
Perform such other functions as the Board of Directors may deem necessary for the proper discharge of its mandate.

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:
Be a Kenyan Citizen;
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Finance, Law, Business Administration, Engineering OR Bachelor of Arts in Education, Human Resource, Information Technology from a University recognized in Kenya;
Have at least five (5) years’ experience in management;
Be a member representing learning institutions or key water consumer institutions within Kakamega
Rural areas; and
Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution Kenya.
