Research & Evidence Manager – HCS Africa – Nairobi

Key Responsibilities
Learning Agenda & Research Strategy.
You will input into the learning agenda related to organisational strategic plan
You will assess and prioritize research questions to align with learning agenda
Research Design, Analysis & Project Management
Manage priority internal and external research projects from end to end including developing the evaluation concept, RFP, research partner contracting, research management and oversight, data analysis report writing, dissemination, and ensuring evidence and insights used to improve programs and drive advocacy.
Provide technical guidance/management to the organization and partner staff to adhere to research systems/processes/protocols to ensure high-quality research design, implementation, and analysis.
Conduct analysis of internal and external evaluation and program data to answer priority learning or advocacy questions. both awareness and good vibes for the organization.
External research partnerships & Business Development
Expand and deepen strategic global research partnerships
Share learnings externally directly and provide strategic guidance to Advocacy team on external influence opportunities
Provide guidance and input to BD team on research funding opportunities
Lead technical input on research sections of funding proposals.
Knowledge Pieces and Publications
Write knowledge pieces including blogs, briefs, articles for peer reviewed journals about the organization and other external relevant research, evidence, analysis, data and insights to drive the organization thought leadership and fundraising and advocacy goals.
Professional development & capacity-building
Provide technical mentorship and capacity building across staff in research design, management and dissemination.
Share relevant literature and research with team to enable and encourage evidence-informed decision making.
Administrative/Other
Contribute to Global Program Team and country-level research annual planning and budgeting;
Lead or participate in internal and external steering committees and technical working groups as assigned and appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Public health epidemiology, health economics, health systems strengthening, health policy with quantitative research specialization
Professional certifications/qualifications in Statistical analysis software; geo- spatial analysis
7-9 years of work experience with 1-3 years at managerial level

Strategic input: Strategic thinking/analysis, systems/protocols/policy development, proposal development
Technical support: Epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, health systems research, research project management
External facing: Public speaking/presentation development, partnership management, stakeholder engagement, writing, analysis
Interpersonal: Staff capacity-building, cultural sensitivity
