Director Finance and Administration – Nairobi – Kenya School of Government

Ref: DFA/01/2015

Reporting to the Director General, the Director Finance and Administration will be Head of the finance and administration Division in the School.

The appointee will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating finance, accounting and administration services of the School and its campuses.

Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Coordination and supervision of finance, accounting, human resource and administration services
Establishment and implementation of policy frameworks for attracting, motivating, developing and retaining staff
Prudent management and utilization of resources
Development, review and implementation of policies, systems, and procedures
Formulation of School budget
Compliance with statutory reporting requirements
Generation of information for management decision-making
Safe custody of official records and documents
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on overall performance of the School, and
Other duties assigned by the Director General

Skills and Attributes:
The ideal candidate will have:
the Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or its equivalent from a recognized university
the Certified Public Accountants, Kenya (CPA-K) qualification
membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing
a certified qualification in Leadership and Management course lasting at least four weeks (Other relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage)
at least eight (8) years of experience at senior management levels
knowledge and skills in computerized financial and management accounting systems
knowledge of laws regarding public financial management, employment, public procurement; and labor and industrial relations
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
initiative and ability to build and work with teams
evidence of fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Kenya Constitution 2010
