Prevention Specialist – Nairobi – University of Maryland

PURPOSE:
This position will work to make sure that the goals and objectives of the PWID Program are achieved by providing oversight, technical assistance and capacity building to the PWID service delivery staff.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide high quality clinical patient care including leading clinical effectiveness efforts, ensuring implementation of recommended clinical protocols , SOPs and national guidelines;
• Operationalize data demand and information use at facilities providing MAT services.
• On site mentoring service delivery staff with the goal of performance improvement in the overall patient care;
• Examine facility operations and systems and recommend ways to improve outputs and outcomes;
• Work closely with national and county key population program leads to coordinate and implement the HIV prevention interventions.
• Represent the organization in the national key populations TWG and harm reduction TWG and in both relevant county and donor meetings.
• Organize and coordinate journal review meetings and CMES for technical staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Education, Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery- MBChB
• 4 to 7 years of experience, particularly in HIV/AIDS related Programs; 2 years at supervisory level. Experiences working with PWID will be an added advantage.
• Valid Registration with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
