Medical / Surgical Charge Nurse – Metropolitan Hospital – Nairobi

Duties:
To coordinate all ward activities and utilize the hospital policies, procedures and standards to provide high quality nursing care and services to patients.
To direct, guide and supervise the team.
To provide high quality of nursing care utilizing approved nursing standards, procedures, policies effectively communicate the same to the appropriate personnel and evaluate outcomes.
Exercise professionalism always while being an effective leadership resource.
To communicate with other professionals and significant others in order to advocate effectively for patient and staff.
To implement and monitor infection control measures to provide a safe environment for patients/staff and customers.
To uphold statutory regulations as required by the nursing profession and the Laws of Kenya and to ensure the same for nurses in your ward/department.
To be in control of the nursing activities, staff management and utilize hospital disciplinary Policy procedures effectively.
To guide and ensure that self and all staff comply with the Hospital regulations and confidentiality clause.
To investigate patients’ complaints and incidents promptly as they occur, in accordance with the hospital procedure, and inform nursing administration immediately.
Identify training needs of the staff for formal and informal nurses training to ensure knowledge and skills acquired improve practice.
Identify the appropriate resources, make sure they are available and organize appropriate training on the use of equipment, storage and inventory.
To maintain and regularly update professional knowledge and competence through education, nursing researches and self-motivated learning.
To ensure accurate documentation, proper record keeping, storage for continuity, quality and legal reference.
Develop unit budget, monitor it, manage and promote cost containment, business profitability and quality service.
Promote nursing researches in the department and implement their findings and recommendations, evaluate effectiveness in improving the quality of nursing care.
Promote good interpersonal relationship with other disciplines to enhance the quality of nursing care within the Hospital.

Job Requirement:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing/ Higher Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution /Diploma In Community Health Nursing from a recognized institution BSN/KRCHN/KRN/ KRN/M.
KCSE C Plain and above.
ACLS & BLS qualifications from a relevant professional body shall be an added advantage.
Computer proficient.
Valid practice license & registered with Nursing Council of Kenya
Leadership Training for at least 1 week with a relevant training Institution
Relevant experience
5yrs & above in a similar role
Previous experience in an administrative role will be an added advantage
