Occupational Therapist – Comfort the Children International

Primary Responsibility: Address each of the Malaika kids’ individual developmental problems as well as educational needs through provision of Developmental Therapy and structured educational services aiming at promoting improvement in functional development and learning.

Roles and Accountabilities
Evaluate clients’ cognitive, perceptual, motor assets and liabilities.
Set each client’s goals for functional performance anticipated.
Provide goal-directed, age appropriate, activity-oriented management/treatment to promote optimum independence in self-care, functional mobility and life tasks for each client working with.
Ensure continuation of performance through effective education of the clients and their families.
Provide adaptive methods and advice on equipment as appropriate to enhance clients’ functional self-performance in tasks.
Provide accurate documentation of clients’ evaluations, treatment plan of care and updates, patient/family education, team conference updates, progress notes, and home exercise programs.
Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team.
Provide professional, competent and culturally sensitive services to the clients’ and their families.
Oversee day to day running of the Malaika kids program.
Serve as the program’s point person in all matters and functions.
Write local and international proposals for program grants
Build the purpose and strategic plan for the program
Planning the delivery of the program

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
3 years’ experience

Good computer skills
Good spoken and written English.
Good management skills
Good personal interaction skills
Creative skills
Must have an ACTIVE Practicing License from Kenya Occupational Therapists Association
